Mulberry Designs
We have been
designing and building architectural garden appointments for over 6 years.
All our products are hand crafted in the low country of Eastern North
Carolina. Since our inseption we have sold over 6,000 estate houses and
feeders throughout the United States and Canada.
The quality and construction of
these estate houses and feeders is unmatched. The copper roofs use 7
pounds of copper and the copper post, copper scroll brackets, and copper
roof will weigh over 25 pounds.
Quality
Materials: Our Products are
made from the finest materials, including Cypress, Copper, Brass and Steel. The
Cypress comes from the Goshen Swamp located in North Carolina and is over 200
years old. Cypress, which grows in slues and swamps, is one of the most superior
woods to resist insects and rot due to the natural oils in the wood. Unfinished
Cypress is used for the landing pads and the Nantucket roofs. It will turn a
beautiful light gray in time. 16oz Copper, used on the roof, is hand cut from
its' roll form and is either pre-finished with a natural green Verdi or is left
natural to age beautifully on its' own. Over 7 lbs. of Copper is used on each
unit, including waste. Brass or Cast Iron Finials are used to complete the roof.
All Steel used is 1/8' thick, cold rolled Steel.
Handcrafted Construction:
We custom buy all lumber to insure solid pieces are used for
each component. We are the only company to our knowledge not gluing the bases
together or using plywood to achieve the maximum dimensions needed. We then run
a Roman Ogee molding on the eight sides of the bases and tops. Any nails used to
join pieces together are backed up with waterproof exterior glue. Each component
is milled in-house and hand cut for an exact fit, including the bases, tops,
octagon post on the feeders, wood trusses on the Charleston, the roof panels on
the Nantucket, landing pads and the sides of the houses. The sides of the house
are splined and glued for maximum adhesion. No nails are used in this part of
the construction, which prevents deterioration from rust. All wood surfaces are
primed with exterior primer, sanded and then given two coats of the #1 latex
paint on the market. The Savannah and the Steel Magnolia have an authentic
single-locking standing seam roof, hemmed on the bottom and soldered on the
inside for optimum aesthetics and strength. Solid Brass Finials are used to top
the Savannah roof. The Charleston roof consists of 8 pieces of hand cut Copper
attached to the wood truss structure. The seams are covered with strips of
Copper and secured with Copper nails. The top is capped with a Copper water seal
and then handcrafted into a flourished plume. Roof construction is designed to
be removed for cleaning and/or replacement if needed. The Steel Magnolia, made
of Steel and Copper, with a Cast Iron Finial, should last for countless
generations to come.
Every unit
is specially designed to insure architectural integrity and quality. Realizing
the value of your home or business is reflected first by its' exterior, we are
confident our designs will make a statement and add that special touch. Mulberry
Designs is proud of our special garden appointments and hopes you enjoy your
investment. We honestly believe you will find no finer product of its
kind.

The Registry of Nature Habitats - Mission
Statement
The Registry of Nature Habitats is
dedicated to the preservation of land that, over time, has been a
site and home for complex ecosystems. The Registry advocates
preservation of these lands and its inhabitants, environmental
education for community individuals and groups, and nurturing of
these lands through restoration in order to conserve its
natural resources for future generations.
Preserve
The Registry of Nature
Habitats manages critical habitat, consisting of wetland,
lowland, upland, forest and stream habitat, providing a home
to wildlife species and plant species. As part of
the mission to preserve these lands and its inhabitants,
the Registry will continue to contract with owners
of ecologically sensitive land as it becomes
available.
Educate
The Registry of Nature Habitats is
a "teaching ground," able to provide hands-on, interpretive learning
experiences in areas such as ecology, botany, wildlife science, and
geology, as well as the arts and humanities. The
educational mission of The Registry of Nature Habitats is
to teach an understanding and appreciaton of the environment,
the invaluable lesson of land stewardship of our natural resources,
and to expand the general knowledge of this habitat through
scientific research. This will be accomplished through a
year-round experiential, interactive approach, along
with onsite and outreach activities including providing
educational material both on this website, on media and through
educational seminars. An on-site facility is in the
design phase, which will house classrooms and an administrative
space.
Nurture
Through several restoration
projects, including the rebuilding of stream corridors,
reintroducing native flora, and permitting only low-impact
activities, the Registry is nurturing much land back to
its natural state, undoing the damage of hundreds of
years. The Registry of Nature
Habitats restoration plan, developed with public and private
partnerships and with local community support, will increase
the land's value, enhance wildlife habitat, improve water
quality, and preserve the integrity of the land's
bio-diversity. Renewable
Energy
Promote the use of
renewable and efficient energy technologies through education,
training, workforce development, research, and project facilitation.
The Registry supports clean energy development and energy
conservation as the means to protect the environment, enhance
public health, and save our nature
habitats.
Conservation
We seek to educate people and provide innovative
solutions that will help build a clean, more efficient world, by
reducing energy consumption in a prudent way that does not
threaten the natural balance that supports all
life.
